Data sources and licences

A product that says “we do not invent numbers” has to be able to show where they come from. Below is every external source, what we use it for and under which licence — including those that require us to name them.

  • Eurostat

Regional seasonality — the year curve for every market

Licence: CC BY 4.0 (Decision 2011/833/EU)

  • Statistics Poland — Local Data Bank

    Licence: CC BY 4.0

  • MET Norway

    Weather forecasts for markets

    Licence: CC BY 4.0

  • OpenStreetMap

Names and locations of nearby accommodation

Licence: ODbL — © OpenStreetMap contributors

  • OpenHolidays API

    School and public holidays

    Licence: ODbL

  • ΓΕΜΗ (GEMI)

Choosing Greek markets: accommodation businesses per municipality

    Licence: ODC-BY 1.0

  • OpenAgenda

    Cultural events in France

Licence: API under our own account; service terms, not an open licence

  • Natural Earth

Country borders on the coverage map

    Licence: Public domain

  • Organisers' official calendars

Events: arenas, stadiums, exhibition centres, city halls

Licence: Publicly published schedules; every entry is approved here by a person

Required notices

Six of these sources (the ODbL, ODC-BY and CC BY 4.0 licences) require the author to be credited wherever the data is used. This page is that credit, and a link to it sits in the footer of every page.

Typefaces

The site is set in two typefaces under the SIL Open Font License 1.1: Manrope for headings and Geist for body text. We serve the files from our own server, so the browser contacts nobody's CDN along the way — a decision about privacy, not performance.

What we do not take

We do not collect competitors' prices from booking portals. This is not a technical difficulty but a matter of terms: Booking.com forbids it outright and nocowanie.pl requires a consent we do not have. Neighbours' prices are entered by the host, by hand, for a chosen night.
