Three things we do not do — and what each one costs us
· 6 min read
A tool is described better by what it refuses to do than by its list of features. A feature can be added in a week. Giving up a feature that worked and brought in data is a decision you can see in the product, and one that cannot be copied with a claim. We have three of them, and each costs us something.
1. We do not scrape competitor prices
The terms of the large booking portals forbid automated collection outright, and one Polish service requires a consent we do not have. We had a working mechanism — and we switched it off, rather than betting that nobody would check.
What it costs us: we lost the easiest benchmark there is, and the three pricing factors that stood on it. Today we cannot say „you are 12% cheaper than similar properties”, even though that sentence sells beautifully. Neighbour prices are entered by the host — by hand, for a chosen night, and visible to nobody else.
What you get instead: certainty that the tool you use is not breaking the terms of the portal your sales depend on. The legal risk of such a solution does not stop at its vendor.
2. We do not push prices into your system
We have no access to your sales channel and we do not want any. You enter the price yourself — from the panel, at a glance, or by downloading a file with the approved amounts.
What it costs us: convenience that is standard in this industry, and a genuine selling point. Automatic synchronisation saves minutes every day and looks good on a feature list.
What you get instead: a guarantee that no mistake of ours can change what your guest sees. An outage on our side, the wrong property, a misread calendar — with automation, each of those lands in your rate card before you hear about it. Here it stops at the screen.
This is a decision we may one day revisit — but if we do, it will be as an option you switch on deliberately, never as the default.
3. We do not promise percentages we have not measured
You will not find „raise your revenue by X%” here. Not out of modesty — simply because we do not know what you will earn until your nights sell.
What it costs us: the single most effective headline in this category. A number on the homepage sells better than a paragraph about method, and everyone involved knows it.
What you get instead: a counter that reports the result after the fact and calculates it as cautiously as it can — so as not to claim credit that belongs elsewhere. When we have no way to judge something, we say „we do not know” instead of writing zero. Those are two different things and they must differ in the result.
Why we write about this at all
Because it is the only part of the offer that cannot be checked from screenshots. You can verify each of these three decisions inside the product in five minutes: look for competitor prices you did not enter, look for a synchronisation toggle, look for the promised percentage. You will not find any of them.
More on how we calculate what we do calculate is in the methodology, including a separate section on the limits of the method. And if you would rather go straight to the arithmetic behind the one hard boundary in our product, it is here: the break-even rate for a night.
